Arion Bank and BBA//Fjeldco host a con­fer­ence on in­vest­ment op­por­tun­it­ies in the Arc­tic

On 8 November 2023, BBA//Fjeldco and Arion Bank hosted a conference in London centered around future opportunities in the Arctic region, titled "Investment Opportunities in the Arctic." At this event, representatives from some of the most prominent businesses in the region delivered presentations on their operations and perspectives regarding the future of the Arctic, with a specific emphasis on innovation and sustainability.

This year's keynote speaker was the former President of Iceland, Mr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, who is also the founder and chairman of the Arctic Circle, a non-profit and the largest network of international dialogue and cooperation on the future of the Arctic. His address touched upon the vast opportunities present in the region, drawing parallels to the American frontier at the beginning of the 20th century, and highlighted Iceland's role in its development. Other speakers at the conference included Ida Bra Benediktsdottir from Arion Bank, Gudmundur Fertram Sigurjonsson from Kerecis, Jon Sigurdsson from Stodir, Haukur Hardarsson from Arctic Green, Jens Meinhard Rasmussen from Smyril Line, Hjortur Erlendsson from Hampidjan, and Magnus Hardarsson from Nasdaq Iceland. The moderator of the event was Fridrika Geirsdottir. Gunnar Thor Thorarinsson, head of the London office of BBA//Fjeldco, and Benedikt Gislason, CEO of Arion Bank, closed the conference.

The event was very successful and well attended, it is exciting to see the level of interest in the Arctic and its future.
