Arion Bank and Vörður to open a new branch in Reykjanesbær this spring

In the spring of 2026, Arion Bank and Vörður will open a new branch in Reykjanesbær. Vörður’s current business in Reykjanesbær will move into shared premises with Arion Bank, located in the commercial area of Aðaltorg on the main thoroughfare Reykjanesbraut. Aðaltorg offers excellent accessibility for residents of Suðurnes, with direct access from the main road and ample parking available outside the branch.

The new location will be a so called “core branch,” offering a wide range of financial and insurance services for retail and corporate customers. The branch will be located in a service hub on the ground floor, and initially around twelve employees are expected to work there. A regional manager, Einar Hannesson, has been hired, and Vörður already has three employees in Reykjanesbær. The positions at Arion Bank will be advertised in January.

Iða Brá Benediktsdóttir, Managing Director of Retail Banking and Deputy CEO of Arion Bank:

“Opening this branch marks a milestone for Arion Bank, as we haven’t opened a new branch in a long time, so this is a very exciting project. This area is thriving, and we want to support the development and the strong business community there. There are exciting times ahead in Reykjanesbær.”

Guðbjörg Heiða Guðmundsdóttir, CEO of Vörður:

“We are very much looking forward to the opening of the new branch at Aðaltorg by Reykjanesbraut. Vörður has a long history in Reykjanesbær, as we have had a branch in this dynamic town since 1999. Now we are moving into more spacious premises together with Arion Bank in a prime location, allowing us to provide even better, comprehensive financial services to the residents of Reykjanesbær all in one place. We are here for Reykjanesbær and look forward to welcoming customers to our new facilities.”
