Arion Bank recognized for excellence in corporate governance

The Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Iceland yesterday recognized Arion Bank for excellence in corporate governance. This recognition followed a formal assessment of corporate governance at the Bank performed by analysts in February 2019. Höskuldur H. Ólafsson, CEO of Arion Bank, received the award at the annual conference on good corporate governance. Höskuldur also addressed the conference yesterday, the main theme of which this year was the qualifications and suitability requirements of board members.
The formal assessment according to which the recognition is awarded is based on guidelines on corporate governance issued by the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Icelandic Employers, and Nasdaq Iceland.
The objective of the conference of good corporate governance is to raise awareness of the importance of good corporate governance, and to discuss international trends and policies in corporate governance and political efforts in Iceland to improve corporate governance. This recognition is confirmation that the Bank practises excellent corporate governance.
