Arion Bank customers with Visa debit and credit cards can now use Apple Pay to buy goods and services.

Apple Pay is an easy and secure way to pay for things. Customers can now use their iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac to make fast and convenient purchases in stores, apps, on websites and in many other locations in Iceland and abroad. Customers using Apple Pay will continue to receive all the rewards and benefits offered by Arion Bank debit and credit cards and using Apple Pay comes at no additional cost.

When using Apple Pay to buy goods and services in stores with an iPhone or Apple Watch, payment is simple and contactless. When shopping in apps or on the web with Apple Pay, there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information.

Apple Pay is easy to set up and adding payment cards is straightforward with the Arion App. Simply choose the card in the Arion App you wish to add to Apple Pay and click on “Add card to Apple Wallet.” You must have the most recent version of the Arion App.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When paying with Apple Pay, the user must identify themselves with the iPhone’s Touch ID or Face ID before payment is made. When a credit card or debit card is used with Apple Pay, card numbers are not stored in the device nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device, whether it’s an iPhone, Apple Watch or Mac.
