We come from diverse backgrounds, yet we share a strong passion for our work.
Our goal is to attract, retain and empower outstanding employees.
We aim to create a positive and inspiring professional environment, placing great importance on equal opportunities and a results‑driven workplace culture.
Together, we strive to understand and meet the needs and expectations of our customers, because their success is our success.
Outstanding graduates have the opportunity to participate in Arion's graduation program and get acquainted with diverse roles within the group.
People spend a significant part of the day at work, so the environment must take their needs into consideration. Comfort is integral to our workplace. Inspiring works of art adorn the walls, and we try to ensure that workspaces have good acoustics.
The canteen at our headquarters features a team of outstanding chefs who prepare a variety of dishes, including meat and fish options, as well as a vegan alternative, all accompanied by a salad bar. We also have a gym, and employees can take a short break with a game of pool, foosball, darts or a quick round in the golf simulator.

Balancing work and personal life can be challenging. We have therefore set clear goals to be a family-friendly workplace and offer both a flexible working environment and a remote work policy.
We ensure that staff receive 80% of their salary during parental leave on average, in addition to operating a daycare facility for employees' children.
Skjöldur, Arion's employee association, not only operates holiday houses around the country but also runs a variety of clubs, ensuring that every employee can find something that suits them.
Listvinir is the largest club operating within Arion, with over 500 members. The club's goal is to enhance staff interest and knowledge in culture and arts, as well as to support artists.
The club not only organises interesting lectures and courses, but twice a year they also hold so-called art evenings. There, club members have the opportunity to acquire beautiful and collectable works - if luck is on their side.
A good workplace spirit doesn’t happen on its own. We put great effort into maintaining employee satisfaction and regularly measure people’s experience of the workplace. The results show that employees feel good and are happy in their roles.
We also place strong emphasis on clear and positive communication. It’s quick and simple to share feedback, which enables us to respond promptly.
At the time of the survey, the bank had 823 employees.
More people than ever are choosing to walk, cycle or use public transport for their commute. We welcome this and offer a commuting allowance to employees who use environmentally friendly ways of getting to and from work.
We also cover the use of Hopp electric scooters during working hours, which is ideal if someone needs to get to a nearby meeting quickly.
At the headquarters, there are over 50 electric charging stations where staff can charge their cars.

Every year, the SA confederation of Icelandic enterprise and its partner companies present education awards to businesses in the private sector. More than 30 nominations were submitted in the category Education company of the year, and the jury selected Arion Bank from a shortlist of three companies recognised for excellence in learning and development in 2024.
This is what the jury had to say about Arion:
„Progressive and professional learning and development programme. The employees originally develop the study material, the L&D index is incorporated into the L&D programmes and professional development within the company is managed effectively.“
