Learning and Development Policy

Our objective is to develop and maintain the professional expertise of our employees through focused and effective training. Not only does this enhance job satisfaction and our employees’ ability to take on new challenges but it also advances professional development. Employees are encouraged to show initiative and seek out the learning and development and continuing education they want in consultation with their supervisors.

Learning and development (L&D) is based on the needs and strategy of the company but also takes into account how jobs and different projects evolve. It is important to us that our employees are given the opportunity to develop both their professional and personal skills. It must be ensured that employees possess reasonable knowledge of the legislation and regulations applicable to their area of work in order to ensure professionalism and safety at work.

Goals of the policy:

  • Develop and maintain employees’ knowledge and skills.

  • Ensure employees are well-informed at all times of the legislation and regulations applicable to their area of work.

  • Encourage all employees to show initiative and take responsibility for their own knowledge and skills.

Training and development customized to employee needs:

Knowledge of legislation and regulations It is crucial that employees have a sound knowledge of the legislation, regulations and safety requirements concerning the Bank’s operations. Such expertise is integral to being able to provide secure, professional and reliable services. It enables employees to take informed and responsible decisions.

Professional skills Professional skills encompass the knowledge, proficiency and attitude which employees require in order to be able to perform their duties effectively and responsibly. These skills include knowledge of the company’s policies, specialized knowledge of particular fields, communications skills, solution-oriented thinking and ethical responsibility. Adding to our employees’ professional skills promotes professional development, enhances job satisfaction and provides opportunities to grow within the company.

Personal skills Personal skills encompass the ability to communicate effectively and to take on challenges in life and work, while at the same time having control over your mental and physical health and ability to adapt to changing circumstances. These skills enable people to grow both personally and professionally and to facilitate more effective collaboration with others.

Mandatory and optional learning and development Mandatory learning and development depends on the nature of an employee’s job and generally addresses legislation, regulations and security requirements. It also extends to other aspects of learning and development, including training for new employees, management training and training on the company’s product range. Mandatory learning and development constitutes the learning and development index which is one of the company’s key performance indicators.

Optional learning and development involves courses and seminars which employees can choose to attend according to their interests or needs. Such training often aims to improve both professional and personal skills.

Format of learning and development We endeavour to make our learning and development programs available in a diverse range of formats which meet the needs and wishes of employees, allowing people to take learning and development courses irrespective of their location. The Bank offers digital and gamified learning and development as well as on-site training. In certain cases, the Bank offers study grants or pays some of the costs of courses held outside the company. Employees are also able to attend events organized by various professional bodies.

We are a learning organization, and we place great importance on ensuring our employees are well informed. By investing in our employees’ knowledge and skills we ensure that Arion Bank is always in prime position to meet new challenges and to provide our customers with quality service. It creates an environment in which both the company and its employees can thrive in an evolving economy and society.
