We know that people, both Icelanders and foreign tourists, travel around our country in search of a unique experience. That's why Blábjörg is a special world of its own.
For example, we don't think it's enough to only offer accommodation. We want to be a powerful attraction for Borgarfjörður eystri. Blábjörg is therefore all at once a hotel, restaurant, spa, brewery and café.
Bringing such a project to reality is a marathon and requires great patience.
My spouse and I launched the idea in 2006 when we purchased an old freezing plant that was scheduled for demolition. Shortly after, we acquired the oldest building in town, which houses the longest continuous retail history in the nation. We wanted to preserve the history of these remarkable buildings, create genuine employment opportunities in the town, and secure the settlement in the beautiful village of Borgarfjörður eystri.

To achieve that, we needed to create a unique identity for ourselves. How do we do that? By drawing inspiration from the surrounding nature and the diverse natural resources that East Iceland has to offer. In our spa, we offer seaweed baths, which are the first of their kind in Iceland. In the mornings, guests enjoy homemade crispbread and freshly baked spice bread. We have a farm just ten minutes away that provides us with fresh products such as lamb and beef. We even make the ethanol for our gin ourselves. We hardly import any ingredients from other regions of the country.
A stay at Blábjörg is a local, sustainable, and environmentally friendly experience.
Today, we are the largest employer in town and can operate Blábjörg year-round. That makes us happy. We want to be the heartbeat and lifeblood of the area.
That's what we consider good success.

Success can take many forms. Companies have different and diverse goals, but our role is to help clients achieve the results they are aiming for.
